Fair Zoo, which was the first Turkish zoo built in 1937 on an 18-decare area in Kültürpark, was transformed to the first Turkish Wildlife Park located on 425-decare area in Çiğli-Sasalı district in 2008.
The project, fully funded with the equities of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, started in 2006 and it was completed in 2 years.
The Wildlife Park, where animals freely live in the animal houses designed specifically for them and similar to their natural habitats and where the city as well as the urbanites take a deep breath with thousands of trees and plants in it, has become one of the centers of attraction in Izmir in a short period of time.
Izmir Wildlife Park, located on an area of 425 thousand square meters, is the home for over 2600 animals representing over 138 animal species and also over 250 plant species. On one hand, the park has been working on comfort of the visitors and trainings for children and on the other hand the number and diversity of animals increase.
Izmir Wildlife Park became an EAZA member on April 3, 2011.
Starting from the opening day, our park had nearly 9 million visitors until the end of 2018.
On an average, 900 thousand people visit the park every year.
